Frank Wise School is closed today, Friday 1st February 2019, to all children. In past years, we have had a higher proportion of staff living within walking distance, but having assessed the current situation, we cannot expect enough staff to be able to make the journey to school in order to be able to say that we can safely accept children into school. The Local Authority and transport operators have been informed that the school is closed.
Those staff who are able to walk to school will endeavour to clear as much as possible of the turning circle needed for vehicle access. Please can we therefore ask that no-one attempts to drive to the site, as this compacts the snow and makes the task of clearing it much more difficult.
It is anticipated that the school will re-open on Monday. Information on any alteration to this plan will be sent via text to families and staff, posted here on the school website and notified to the Local Authority for publication on their website.
We apologise for the in convenience that today’s closure causes, but please be assured that this decision is made with the welfare of the children and staff in mind, and that we are working to re-open the site as swiftly as possible.
